I’m the founder of Blossom Rose Studio, an independent studio florist located in Dalton-in-Furness.
I have a lifelong passion for flowers and like my designs to look as natural and effortless as possible. I offer a personalised service and have a good selection of products to suit every budget and occasion
My studio is currently by appointment only but my doors are always open for a chat and a cuppa. To get in touch to see how we can work together…
My journey began in Solihull where my love of flowers and gardening came from the influence of my late mother. I have many fond memories making hanging baskets with her and flower arranging as a child.
My journey officially kicked off 15 years ago when I studied for a floral qualification after my Business degree, and I set up a flower business called Love you Flower in Birmingham. I taught rock climbing whilst working at my friends climbing wall and ended up teaching there for five years alongside my flowers.
I moved to the Lake District in 2012 and worked in a couple of administration roles, but I missed being creative so in 2017 I started running Christmas wreath workshops initially at a local pub and school and I enjoyed teaching again.
In 2020, we made the decision to convert our junk filled garage into the beautiful studio space that it is today. We also rebranded the business ‘Blossom Rose Studio’ after our daughters Miss Blossom and Miss Rose.
It’s not just my workplace; it’s a creative space where my family and customers can get together. It really is a wonderful light airy space, a log burning fire, kitchenette and friendly visitors from the farm.
Once Blossom Rose Studio was launched I found a flair for making wreaths and started experimenting with Dried Flowers. They are so versatile, not only are do they make show stopping bridal bouquets, also flower crowns, flower vases, glass domes and flower frames to name a few.
My ongoing project is my cut flower garden, each year I’m developing more and more flower beds which are producing cut flowers, grasses and foliage which I then dry and use in my floral creations. Self-supply is very satisfying to me and works with my ethos of creating natural looking designs using materials which are locally grown. We have a beautiful mature garden and it’s filled with plants that I have nurtured for many a year, now I use these home-grown flowers in my designs.
I now offer a wide range of products using dried, preserved, artificial/silk and fresh flowers and cater for all occasions in my studio and on site. Want to know how I can help transform your venue or add a floral touch to your special occasion?
I’ve had the privilege of running floral demonstrations for Charites including Furness Young Carers and the RNLI. At these events, I demonstrated how to make a variety of designs right before the eyes of a large crowd. Then, these creations were raffled off, with all the profits of the events going to these incredible causes.
With the help of the community's generosity, money was raised for Furness Carers, directly benefiting young carers by providing them with enjoyable activities for a much-needed break.
Furness Carers offers an invaluable support network, ensuring all funds raised directly assist these dedicated young individuals and their families.
Gemma was part of a fundraising event that was held in the Barrow-in-Furness Community Hall. They successfully raised money to go towards the Askam inshore rescue team.
Gemma's contribution will help allow the rescue team to continue to help keep people safe.
Gemma is a firm believer in giving back to the community.
St. Mary's Hospice in Ulverston is reliant on charitable donations as only 17% of its running costs is funded by the NHS. Blossom Rose Studio regularly raffles off floral pieces to raise funds for this local charity.
